Otter.io, AI tool or a trojan?

disclaimer: [speculation after 1st-hand accounts]

As new AI tools are coming to every platform, one has begun to show up on our screens and communicates across the organization’s attendees permission to distribute and install itself to your conferencing systems.

Otter.io touts itself to be a note-taking tool for your calls. Except what the note accuracy seems low, based on attendees who are on the call recall, and the product itself is spreading like wildfire across organizations which are open platform corporate systems. Reportedly, many of those who are experiencing it are not intending to have an AI Note Taking assistant joining automatically into calls, yet they are doing exactly that, and it is not a simple process to entirely remove otter.io from your system.

If this tool is intended for good and not ill, the team behind this product ought to consider the end-user’s experience a bit more, because right now, it is giving the unsuspecting the impression that it is a virus.
